How Your Subscriber List Is An Extremely Valuable Asset

If you realize that all the email addresses you have on your list is connected to a real live human being with a bank account - hopefully - then you can easily start to understand why an email list is so valuable...

In fact, it's actually one of the most valuable business assets you have. The most successful online marketers in the industry agree that your email list is one your most valuable business assets. If they're all still saying it and using it, it must be true.

You Don't Need To Reinvent the Wheel

One of the biggest mistakes new business owners make is thinking they need to totally reinvent the wheel. That's why new ideas and software spread like wildfire online. We're talking about professional internet marketers like Neil Patel, Corey Dilley, Joe Pulizzi, and more all agree that they are successful due to their email list. Sure, they have an excellent products and services, but they can market it effectively because of their email list.

Social Media Accounts Can Get Deleted Any Time

As Joe Pulizzi once said, "You can't build your content on rented land." What he means is that using free services like Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, and the others is like rented land and it can and will be ripped out from under you whenever you break a rule or the platform disappears or changes drastically.

Social media is a give and take scenario. They take our data, and in return, we can use their platform to build a following and market to them - with the understanding that our accounts can be deleted without warning. It's best to get as many of them as you can onto an email database list and take them with you along your journey.

Understanding the Value of Each Subscriber

Getting that email address from your audience member is a sign of trust and the beginning of building a long-term relationship. The idea is to always try to increase the potential lifetime value of each subscriber, and the lifetime value of anyone who becomes a customer. I think we should always be striving to nurture that.

Looking at it that way can motivate you to work harder to send valuable information to your list on a regular basis. If you can be a positive force in their lives and in their inbox, then they'll open your emails and follow the links.

Let's face it, in this business, your email list is your bread and butter, so it makes sense to figure out what the want to know about, and make them happy by sending the type of information they need and want as well as compelling offers that make sense for them. Just think of how you like being treated in your inbox.

Getting Better Conversions

Segmenting your subscribers into smaller groups helps convert more since it gets them focused on a more specific topic. If you can get them segmented into smaller groups, you can make the messages more personalized for even better results - plus it's easier to know what they want and give it to them.

It's hard to segment on social media or even your blog. It's easier to create opt-in freebies on a specific topic and get people onto a tightly focused list. With most autoresponders, you can tag new subscribers based on what they opted in for. That makes it super easy to segment.

And with email you can laser target your messages for better conversions based on what they signed up to your list for (the topic of your headline and opt-in freebie). Plus with email, you don't have to worry about rules and regulations for the social media site - even though there are some rules about email, but it's still usually much easier to get your message across in email than on social media.

Overall, email is still the most used method of marketing for businesses because it works. Since most people still prefer to get information via email over ads when they're trying to be social don't discount the value of your list.
